Shushybye Review and *closed* Giveaway: Sleepover Surprise
Mar 6th, 2010 Posted in Giveaways | 108 comments »
Shushybye was created by a talented musician and author named Steve Syatt. Several read-along sing-along books and a popular television show on BabyFirstTV proudly carry the Shushybye name. The purpose of the books and show is to help make bedtime a wonderful experience that toddlers and young children look forward to. This is something our family has needed, so I was thrilled when Shushybye agreed to let me review the brand’s newest book Shushybye Sleepover Surprise.
Our 4yo son River has been going through a phase where he does not want to lay down when it is time to go to bed. He tries all sorts of different tricks to extend the time it takes putting on his pajamas, brushing his teeth, and choosing a story. We have started making him get ready for bed earlier, but that will never correct the real problem. What he has needed is a new way to relax and make bedtime enjoyable. This is what Shushybye does best.
The Shushybye brand is geared towards small children and their expertly narrated books/CDs are filled with award-winning original songs and stories. Shushybye Sleepover Surprise is the first Shushybye story that our family has read, but I am sure it will not be the last. The story is imaginative, the characters are memorable, and the songs are exemplary. Syatt seems to effortlessly cross genres while creating music with a very broad appeal.
The excellent sing-along music comes courtesy of the Shushybye Dream Band. Not only can you and your child hear this band in the books and on TV. The Shushybye Dream Band also tour and will soon be performing for children in cities across the U.S. and Canada. The Shushybye website lists a few dates for this summer, and promises many more. You may want to bookmark the Shushybye Tour Page and keep checking back to discover new tour dates as they are announced. The webpage also has an email address you can write to for more concert information.
I will not pretend that the new Shushybye book and CD has made River’s bedtime an effortless affair for us. He still has nights where he complains that he isn’t tired and times when he moves extra slow throughout his nighttime routine. Bedtime protesting is common for children River’s age, but Shushybye is making a difference. River looks forward to Shushybye Sleepover Surprise at night. The read-along story and songs have been a fun, entertaining way to help River prepare for bed each night.
