River Rides A Frog Hopper at Gatti Town

Jun 16th, 2010 Posted in Business, Family, Lifestyle | one comment »

This was going to be my Wordless Wednesday until I decided to get this off my chest. We went to Gatti Town on June 7th because the June Issue of Reach magazine said that every Monday, Moms can get a free buffet with the purchase of a child’s buffet. The advertisement specifically listed the Evansville address of the Gatti Town we were at as one of the locations to take advantage of this offer.

When we got in the door, the hostess informed us that the advertised specials were not valid in the summer. This was not mentioned in the June Ad, and in fact the full-page ad was mostly devoted to telling readers about all the great Gatti Town specials each day of the week. The food and service was excellent, but I still felt like this Gatti Town had pulled a classic bait-and-switch. I wonder if other people had fallen victim to Evansville Gatti Town’s trick and that was why the place was practically empty at 6pm.

Everyone has to purchase a buffet just to get through the door at Gatti Town, so people that are just going for the sake of the kids will be disappointed. We had already gotten River very excited about going, so we didn’t leave, we just paid full-price for everything. We didn’t feel like asking for a manager and making a scene, but I swore to myself that I would blog about it later. We had a lot of fun and that was what mattered most.

River absolutely loves the Frog Hopper ride and must have rode it 15 times. At $2.00 per ride, it is quite expensive, but this was only our second time going so we let him ride to his hearts content. We will probably go to Gatti Town again someday, but I will never trust another AD from them again.

The ride goes way up in the air..

Then it drops suddenly..

*closed* Review / Giveaway of Randomline Games

Feb 3rd, 2010 Posted in Giveaways, Reviews | 161 comments »

Squiggles Alphabet GameOur 4-year old son River has been learning how to print his letters by hand. He has enjoyed typing words from his books for nearly a year but it has been harder to get him excited about the more difficult task of holding a pencil properly and creating letters on paper. Thankfully, Squiggle On-The-Go is now making this task fun.

Alphabet Squiggle On-The-Go is the offshoot of the popular game Squiggles. In the game, a wheel is spun by the child. After the wheel stops on a particular letter, the child uses the provided pencil and gamepad to draw the letter.

The game states that it is for children 5 and up, but River has taken to the gameRiver Playing With Squiggles just fine. He is not able to draw all of the letters, but with encouragement, he is willing to try. The best educational tools are the ones that make learning fun, and that seems to be the point of many of the Randomline games.

We have only had this game for about a week and already I have seen improvement in River’s letter writing. The Squiggle’s Alphabet game offers an alternative set of rules for when he grows older. The new rules involve turning letters into animals or people.

I like how Squiggles Alphabet uses a fun game to inspire River to practice River's Hand Is Making Squiggleswriting his letters. The game also bolsters his creativity and teaches him that learning can (and should) be fun!

The assortment of On-The-Go games from Randomline include much more than Alphabet Squiggles. There is an On-The-Move game to learn about vehicles, an outdoors game to learn about woodsy creatures and insects, a T-Rexcellent looking Dinosaurs game, and many more! Of course one of the best features of the On-The-Go line of games is their portability. They are great for taking on trips to play in the car. The games are also perfect for restaurants, doctors waiting rooms, or anywhere else where your child needs his time occupied with something constructive.

*closed* (2 Winners) Yoplait Kids Prize Pack!

Oct 14th, 2009 Posted in Giveaways, Product Reviews, Reviews | 209 comments »

Recently, MyBlogSpark sent our family a Yoplait Less Sugar, More Fun prize pack to review! They are also allowing me to give two more of these funtastyic  packs away to two of my lucky readers. The Yoplait prize pack includes an insulated travel cooler to keep your yogurt cold, a pair of spoons that change color in warm water, a reusable color-on / wipe-off place mat with puzzles and games, a fuzzy tangle toy, and a coupon for a free six-pack of Yoplait Kids or Yoplait Trix yogurt!

Yoplait Trix contains more sugar than Yoplait Kids, but the difference is very slight. The average leading kids Yogurt has 35 grams of sugar per 8oz serving, but Yoplait Trix only has 28g. Yoplait Kids has 25% less sugar than the leading brands with only 26g per 8oz serving. Another great reason to choose Yoplait is that there is vitamin D in every cup!

I allowed our 4-year old son River to choose what he wanted. I was a bit surprised when he chose Yoplait Trix, based on the flavor “Triple Cherry” rather than the bunny on the package. I was even more surprised when he chose to eat the Wild Berry Blue first. As you can see in the video above, and the photos below, he was very happy with his decision.
