The Mint Chicks – New Music Monday

Originally the band hailed from New Zealand, but has since opted to conquer the states with their self-described “troublegum” sound. The Mint Chicks are comprised of Kody Nielson (vocals and Nord piano), Ruban Nielson (guitar), Michael Logie (bass) and Paul Roper (drums).
Besides really cool songs, The Mint Chicks are known to have an amazing live show. According to Wikipedia, “Kody and Ruban Nielson have been known to climb P.A. stacks, hang from lighting rigs, destroy guitars, engage in self-harm and even attack the stage with a chainsaw.” The Mint Chicks have opened for many great bands including the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The White Stripes, and TV on the Radio.
