Christmas 2009 Is Finally Over

The last four days have been hectic. Christmas came at us full force, but the kids had a great time and we saw lots of people that we do not see very often. Our children had their picture taken with Santa at a family gathering Jan. 23rd, and at the mall on Christmas Eve.
River and Zen both received lots of cool toys and other gifts this year. In fact, I am afraid Santa will have a lot of trouble “topping” this Christmas in the future. We tried taking more pictures, but Zen began crying. He also cried when his picture was taken at the mall. I guess he is a bit SantaClaustraphobic.
I am sure that once Zen gets old enough to realize that his presents came from Santa, he will love jolly ol’ St. Nick. Judging by the picture to the left, he seems to think Mommy gave him all those wonderful gifts. Or maybe all that love in his eyes is being directed at the cameraman.
It is really cool that Zen just began sitting up about a month ago and now he is seriously playing with all his new toys. Even more surprising is that he was able to unwrap many of his own presents. His brother River didn’t seem interested in tearing the wrapping paper until he was 2-years old. Zen isn’t even 8-months old and he tore right into his gifts like a seasoned pro. I think he must have learned a lot from watching his experienced older brother.
Zen really adores and looks up to his big brother River. If this Christmas is any indication of things to come, they will surely grow up to be best friends!
