*Closed* Flip Along Fun Giveaway & Review
Recently we received a copy of the new childrens’ storybook Flip Along Fun. My 4yo son, River was immediately thrilled with the engaging flaps. After entertaining himself with the book for several minutes, I finally convinced him to hand it over so I could learn how to use it.
The concept is simple yet very inventive. The sturdy pages are lined into three columns. Each column is comprised of flaps that can be flipped up to reveal colorific groups of animals along with a silly rhyme about them. The first two pages are meant to be flipped up at random. Then the child searches through the third column to find the animals that also appear on the first two flaps. If the same types of animals are present on the third panel, the total number of animals also adds up!
For children between the ages of two and six, this book is a great tool to help teach counting, matching, colors, rhymes and animal names. The book is a great tool to stimulate creativity and add manageable interactivity to bedtime stories. Of course the best part of this book is the fun factor!
The same 27 panels can be rearranged many different ways to create numerous silly rhymes and provide hours of enjoyment. Flip Along Fun is akin to the choose-your-own adventure stories that many of us loved as children. The two major differences are that choose-your-own adventure stories are written for older children and they are rarely illustrated.
Flip Along Fun allows preschoolers to participate in the excitement of storytelling and choose their own comical rhymes. The rhymes are accentuated by cute and colorful artwork created by award-winning illustrator Sarah Buell Dowling. The durable laminated pages allow Dowling’s drawings to appear beautiful and sharp as they provide focus to the content created by the popular author Michael J. Dowling.
