MGMT is a psychedelic / electronic pop duo from Brooklin NY. Their first album Oracular Spectacular, was named the best album of 2008 by NME magazine. They have supported bands such as Radiohead and Beck during their 2008 tours and have also performed to much acclaim at festivals such as Bonnaroo and SXSW. They also made a notable appearance on Yo Gabba Gabba during the episode titled Art.
I chose MGMT as my New Music Monday pick, based on the video below. It is a perfect Halloween video featuring a frightened child and the band in costume. The lyrics are insightful and the song would be great no matter what time of year. I look forward to the album Congratulations, which is expected to be released in early 2010.
