*closed* WAT-AAH Review & Giveaway

Dec 30th, 2009 Posted in Giveaways, Reviews | 297 comments »

As 2009 comes to a close, many of us are making resolutions. One of my personal resolutions is to drink fewer soft drinks and more water. I also want to encourage my 4-year old son River to drink more water, but he doesn’t care about the health benefits of choosing this perfect beverage. Fortunately, there is now a brand of water made especially for kids that has him  screaming for WAT-AAH!

WAT-AAH! comes in four varieties, each packed with particular enhancements such as electrolytes and minerals to benefit brains, bones, body, and energy levels. I first heard about WAT-AAH! a few months ago, and was very intrigued by the labels which are designed to appeal to kids and make them want to drink this healthy, sugarless beverage. I am surprised that I had not heard of them earlier, because there is a Jonas Brothers video on YouTube with over 275,000 views  featuring the young stars drinking WAT-AAH between songs.

About 6-months ago, WAT-AAH! began a campaign where they sent out free samples to numerous schools and Moms. The idea was to see if kids would choose WAT-AAH instead of sugary colas, juices, and fruit flavored drinks. The “WAT-AAH! Challenge”  has been a stunning success!

When our family was offered the opportunity to take the WAT-AAH! Challenge, I didn’t know what to expect. River has never been a huge fan of pure water, and he is very fond of his juices. It is easy to see why! Besides the sugary sweet taste,  juice labels and fruit punch packaging is designed to appeal to kids. Until WAT-AAH! came about, water had always seemed quite boring in comparison.

I placed the WAT-AAH in the fridge next to his juices and kool-aid and waited for him to discover the bottles. He immediately spotted the bright, colorful vessels and said, “what’s that?”

When I asked River whether he wanted his juice or one of the new beverages with the cartoon kid yelling “Drink WAT-AAH!” on the label, he chose the pink bottle of WAT-AAH! After taking a few healthy gulps, River said he likes WAT-AAH!” Now, when he pretends to go shopping, WAT-AAH! is one of the first things on his list.

I tried WAT-AAH and thought it tasted about the same as the bottled water we normally drink. However, River has never shown much interest in other bottled water brands.  WAT-AAH! uses  clever bottles to entice children like River to drink it. The Moms (and kids) who designed the WAT-AAH bottles should be commended. I also think the idea of pumping oxygen into the ENERGY variety to make it energizing is brilliant!

I want to point out that River typically drinks sugar-free Kool-Aid. Unfortunately, sources ranging from ABC News to Web MD have reported that artificial sweeteners may alter a person’s metabolism and cause weight gain. Incidents of childhood obesity and diabetes have reached epidemic proportions. Getting kids to drink pure water is the only really good choice to stifle this alarming trend. WAT-AAH is the best way that I’ve seen to accomplish this.

By drinking WAT-AAH! kids can have a fun beverage without all the potentially harmful additives. The bottles are 100% recyclable and BPA Free! The WAT-AAH website offers a list, organized by state, of the numerous stores that carry it. The drink can also be purchased at Amazon as a 12-pack for $12.00 + S/H

Christmas 2009 Is Finally Over

Dec 27th, 2009 Posted in Family, Holidays, Lifestyle | 2 comments »

The last four days have been hectic. Christmas came at us full force, but the kids had a great time and we saw lots of people that we do not see very often. Our children had their picture taken with Santa at a family gathering Jan. 23rd, and at the mall on Christmas Eve.

River and Zen both received lots of cool toys and other gifts this year. In fact, I am afraid Santa will have a lot of trouble “topping” this Christmas in the future. We tried taking more pictures, but Zen began crying. He also cried when his picture was taken at the mall. I guess he is a bit SantaClaustraphobic.

I am sure that once Zen gets old enough to realize that his presents came from Santa, he will love jolly ol’ St. Nick. Judging by the picture to the left,  he seems to think Mommy gave him all those wonderful gifts. Or maybe all that love in his eyes is being directed at the cameraman.

It is really cool that Zen just began sitting up about a month ago and now he is seriously playing with all his new toys. Even more surprising is that he was able to unwrap many of his own presents. His brother River didn’t seem interested in tearing the wrapping paper until he was 2-years old. Zen isn’t even 8-months old and he tore right into his gifts like a seasoned pro. I think he must have learned a lot from watching his experienced older brother.

Zen really adores and looks up to his big brother River. If this Christmas is any indication of things to come, they will surely grow up to be best friends!

Music Wednesday – Pogues Xmas Song

Dec 23rd, 2009 Posted in Entertainment, Songs | one comment »

I just thought it would be nice to post a video for one of my favorite songs from back in the day. This is Fairytale Of New York (Xmas Song) by the Pogues. Be warned that this is not your typical Christmas song. This is Christmas as defined by the perpetually drunken Irishman Shane MacGowan and featuring the lovely accompanying vocals of Kirsty MacColl.

*Closed* MyClyns Giveaway: Supreme Germ Protection

Dec 20th, 2009 Posted in Giveaways, Reviews | 161 comments »

Picture of MyClyns Anti-Germ SprayI use sanitizer every day, but until recently had no idea how many dangerous germs I have been failing to destroy. MyClyns is a safe and highly effective germ protection spray that is designed to be used after someone sneezes or coughs.

How many times have you been out with your family when a kid suddenly sneezes right in your child’s direction without covering his/her face? This has happened to us more times than we can count at places ranging from family picnics to McDonald’s Playland. With the highly contagious H1N1 virus (swine flu) causing widespread havoc, we can never be too careful about preventing the spread of germs.

We have always known that washing our hands often can help prevent the spread of germs. However, according to an article in Newsweek, hand washing will not stop the flu. This is because influenza strains such H1N1 are usually spread by microscopic particles exhaled by infected people. Until MyClyns, there was no way of fighting germs after they had come in contact with the mucus membranes. Watch this fun 40 sec. video!

MyClyns is a germ fighting spray that can be used directly in the eyes, nose, mouth, and open wounds! This is because the only two ingredients are super-oxidized water and sodium chloride (salt). MyClyns have shown a reduction of 99.99% in more than 60 potentially dangerous pathogens!

When I tested the spray out on myself I was a bit surprised to discover that it felt no different than the light mist of an ocean breeze. My 4yo son was a bit apprehensive, but after spraying him once, he wanted me to do it again. I explained how we can’t waste the product because we will be seeing a lot of people over the holidays and may need it. It is nice to know that we will be protected from a lot of germ and pathogen exposure.

Speaking of protection from germ exposure, a new website has been launched called My Germ Spray! This website contains general information about H1N1 and other infectious diseases. Additionally, there is advice about how to protect your family, a categorized list of germ “Hot Spots” and a comprehensive glossary of terms related to germs. The site also includes a knowledge base related to MyClyns personal germ protection spray.

MyClyns is the only spray of it’s type on the market and is sold at CVS stores nationwide along with other major retailers for a suggested retail price ranging from $7.99- $9.99. This would make a great last minute stocking stuffer or as a way to be protected during holiday gatherings!

Many hospitals and first responders such as EMS and police are using MyClyns germ protection. Imagine how thrilled your local postal worker, garbage man, child’s teacher or bus driver would be to receive MyClens for Christmas! What better way to show someone that you care about their well being, than with an inventive product that will protect them from illness?

This Giveaway is now closed with 152 Entries! A Winner Will Be Announced Soon. Thank you to everyone who entered!
