Review & Giveaway of My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure

Sep 30th, 2009 Posted in DVD Reviews, Giveaways | 288 comments »

I recently received a copy of My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure to review. I let our four-year son open the package, and he was very excited when he saw the DVD. The case is colorful, glittery, and festive.

In this movie the Ponies are eagerly awaiting the annual Winter Wishes festival. The high point of this gala is when Twinkle Wish, the wishing star, will grant each Pony one wish. Cheerilee, voiced by Kelly Sheridan, is responsible for watching the ornate chest containing the wish-granting star. The day before the festival, Scootaloo causes a disruption and accidentally releases Twinkle Wish!

An unhappy dragon named Whimsy finds the star and decides to keep it for herself. Then Pinkie Pie and the rest of the Ponies embark on an adventure to recover the wishing star while learning lessons about the importance of honesty, friendship, and believing in yourself.

I was very thankful that the makers of My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure, chose to use the classic animation style that this series is known for. I really like CGI animation, but I miss seeing traditional animation being used in quality, feature-length cartoons. I still would have enjoyed this movie if CGI had been used; just not quite as much.

So bake some cookies, sit down with the kids, and enjoy this movie together. Perhaps you can bake yummy oatmeal, raisin, apple, caramel, upside-down surprises like Sweetie-Belle.

Along with the feature presentation, the DVD is packed with fun bonus features. In addition to the standard trailers, there are sing-alongs, a prequel, and printable activity sheets!

Also included in this DVD is a new ultracute animated short called Elefun. This 28-minute bonus featurette is about an elephant and a frog that are searching for the end of a tangled kite string. They sing songs, tell jokes, and meet many new friends along the way. Most importantly, they learn about the importance of helping one another out.

My son really enjoyed My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure. I realize that many people consider My Little Pony to be strictly for girls.  That is because social influences cause many boys to rebel against anything deemed “girlie.” However, alone or in a mixed group, most children will adore the great storyline, humor, musical numbers, and animation found in this My Little Pony adventure. This DVD would make a great gift for any child.

My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure will be available Oct. 13th at stores everywhere, or online from http://www.shoutfactorystore.com. As I mentioned in a previous post, a $5.00 off coupon will be attached to copies of Twinkle Wish Adventure at Toys R’ Us and Target. The coupon can be redeemed when the DVD is purchased in conjunction with a My Little Pony toy.

Click To See My Website Kanye-ized

Everyone has heard about Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at last weeks MTV video music awards. Now he has done something even more dastardly. Kanye West interrupted my blog!

Kanye will interrupt your site too. All you have to do is go to http://kanyelicio.us and type in your webpage’s url!

I found out about the Kanye-izer from Buck Daddy’s blog. Apparently, Kanye had interrupted his site too. I navigated away from Buck Daddy’s site long enough to enter my url into the Kanye-izer and WHAM! I finally knew how Taylor Swift must have felt. Kanye let me finish my post, but first wanted everyone to know that Beyonce has one of the best websites of ALL TIME!
